This indigenous community of about 500 inhabitants located in the remote village of Balditan, Benli, Bulalacao Oriental Mindoro, Philippines has been off the grid since time immemorial. We now have this wonderful opportunity to leapfrog from conventional grid to clean solar energy and lighting for a population that has not experience the basic convenience of electricity.
We plan to execute this project in 2 phases, with Phase 1 for solar lighting and Phase 2 for the installation of solar panels to provide clean green energy for basic convenience. The solar lighting will focused on the installation of solar lamps on the pathway leading up to the Balditan Elementary School and its immediate surroundings. This school provides the crucial elementary education for the children in this remote village and serves as a community gathering center for various social, cultural and religious events.
